My Body with No Knees

my guy and I talk about freezing knees 

knowing what’s happening in Siberia

and can’t soon forget.

the strong feeling of pining stripped away

not wanting knots tied in knee joints

can feel the crystals forming even at 46 degrees

the suggestion is enough.

34 and should we feel this old?

it dips in February and he goes somewhere for pain

tells them about the crystals and the cupping done free

the chiropractor has the long neck of a dancer 

but calls ballet the worst.

his skull a diamond you could hold 

I know so much about Dr. Reid and his office

smells of glaucous exercise bands and clean sheets

Dr. Reid says we could live forever and are not old

we breakdown while he flies at this pain now gone.

I cannot explain then why my body looks this way

if it’s not old age then it’s over? the good looking

we sleep in arms in the back of a Nissan in New Haven,

we try clam pizza for the first, wiley at the grit 

he will always be six months younger 

no matter how old we get.
